Frozen shoulder is a condition where the shoulder joint becomes inflamed and stiff, so raising your arm is difficult, painful and gradually more limited.
Signs of frozen shoulder
1. Shoulder pain
- A deep ache inside the shoulder joint
- Worse at night or when lying on that shoulder
- Sometimes spreading to the upper arm
2. Less movement
- Difficulty raising your arm above your head
- Trouble reaching behind you, such as doing up buttons or a bra, or picking something up behind you
3. Tightness or stiffness
- The shoulder feels “locked”
- You can’t rotate your arm the way you used to
Move slowly and stay within a pain-free range. Stop and see a doctor if pain gets worse or you feel numbness or pain that spreads.
