Radial Shockwave

Radial shockwave therapy

Compressed air drives a piston, a little like an air gun, so the waves spread out in a wide cone. Used for muscle and tendon pain from repetitive use or long-lasting pain.

Radial Shockwave at ReHappy Clinic

Does this sound like you?

  • Long-lasting tight, aching muscles in the neck, shoulders, back or hips
  • Muscle or tendon pain from repetitive use, such as the elbow or shoulder
  • Heel pain with your first steps in the morning (plantar fasciitis)
  • Pain that has lasted for months despite other treatments

If it does, let our doctor assess you before treatment starts.

What is radial shockwave?

Radial shockwave therapy sends energy from the applicator into the tissue, where it spreads out into the surrounding area. It is often part of the care for some kinds of muscle and tendon pain, especially pain from repetitive use or pain that has lasted a long time.

The waves

Compressed air drives a piston, a little like an air gun, so the waves spread out in a wide cone.

How is radial shockwave different from focused shockwave?

Radial and focused shockwave are both shockwave technologies, but they deliver energy differently. Radial shockwave spreads energy from the applicator into the surrounding tissue, which suits areas that can be reached through the skin, within the device’s indications. Focused shockwave can gather its energy at a set position and depth.

During treatment

It can feel uncomfortable while the waves are applied. The intensity is adjusted to what you can tolerate, and the number of sessions depends on your doctor’s assessment.

Your actual plan depends on the doctor’s assessment.
